Discover KeraClub: Sharing Knowledge, Research and Lived Experience in Keratoconus

If you’re looking to learn more about the latest research and real-life experiences of keratoconus, KeraClub is a great place to start. Run by Keratoconus Australia, KeraClub is an online education series that brings together patients, clinicians and researchers from around the world.

The recording of KeraClub 2025 is now available to watch, offering a wide-ranging and insightful look at current developments in keratoconus. The session combines expert-led presentations with powerful patient stories, creating a space where science and lived experience meet.

One of the most moving moments came from patient advocate Clare Smith, who shared her experience of navigating keratoconus as a young mother. Her talk highlighted the everyday challenges of living with the condition, alongside the resilience required to manage work, family life and eye health.

Viewers also heard from world-leading corneal surgeon and researcher Professor Stephanie Watson OAM, who provided an update on the latest keratoconus research, including findings from the Save Sight Keratoconus Registry. Her presentation explored how research is shaping future treatments and improving long-term outcomes.

The webinar covered a broad range of topics, including the impact of UV exposure on keratoconus, inequalities in access to treatment, the growing role of AI in eye care, advances in keratoconus treatments, and practical advice for managing contact lenses. Early-career researchers also shared fascinating findings on social determinants of keratoconus and corneal transplant outcomes.

If you’re interested in understanding keratoconus from both a scientific and personal perspective, this session is well worth watching.
